So last week when Wes, another investigator, told us that he was going to stop drinking, we visited him the next day and he drank 4 hours after we left. I was kind of disappointed but it gave me even more motivation to help him. We taught him that he could do it. He said he would try again and he hasn't had a drink for 6 days! That is awesome for him since he hasn't stopped drinking for a couple of years. Now since he is sober, we can actually teach him the lessons and he won't have the same question every time we visit him.
We have many other investigators that I'm so excited about. I am praying for each of them everyday. So in the ward I'm in, The Ponderosa Ward, we have a big focus on member missionary work. It is so awesome to see the members invite people to activities and to share something about the gospel. One of my favorite scriptures about missionary work is in 2 Nephi chapter 7, verses 6 and 7. It reads, " I gave my back to the smiter, and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair. I hid not my face from shame and spitting. For the Lord God will help me, therefore shall I not be confounded. Therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed." This scripture talks about how we shouldn't be ashamed to share the gospel. We should strive to share the gospel with everyone. It doesn't have to be a long message. It could simply be that God loves you. If we share the gospel with people, we will have a strong desire to share more. When the members do their work in sharing the gospel, it is super effective.
I can't wait for this next week. Tomorrow, my companion and I get a brand new Chevy Malibu. The first one in the mission. Haha, I am super excited. I hope everyone has a Happy Halloween! I have to be indoors at 7. So no trick or treating for me haha. Talk to you all next week! Oh and here are some pictures! The normal looking house is the one I live in and the wierd looking house is something we tracted.
